Top Ten Beauty Tools for Flawless Makeup Application

When it comes to makeup application, the tools you use are just as important as the products that you use. Here are the top ten beauty tools for a flawless makeup application.

Colourpop The Full Beat

If sponges are your thing then you are really going to like this affordable sponge set from Colourpop. The set of 5 sponges feature various shapes and textures that can be used with your powder, liquid and cream products for a flawless finish. Of the five sponges the detail and complexion sponges are my top two sponges. All of the sponges are bouncy and are perfect for applying sheer to full coverage products. At under $5 per sponge this set is worth the $22 price tag.

E.L.F. Total Face Blending Sponge

Another favorite sponge is the E.L.F. Total Face Blending Sponge. This sponge is extremely soft but does not soak up liquid product and blends cream bronzers and blushes with no patchiness and will not lift your foundation. At only $6 this is another affordable sponge that works just as good as higher priced sponges.

Sonia Kashuk Luxe Collection Powder Brush

While powder brushes may seem like a basic brush that you shouldn’t have to spend that much money on, they are a staple tool and this brush from Sonia Kashuk is a great value. This synthetic brush is excellent for setting and finishing powders. This brush is slightly domed with soft densely packed bristles that evenly distribute product without skipping or looking patchy. The mint green tapered handle also gives this brush a very luxe feel at a fraction of the cost of other brushes that deliver the same effect.

SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Bronzer Brush #80

Honestly, I love this brush. Sephora Collection Pro has some of my favorite complexion brushes and this one of them. Although categorized as a bronzer brush, this is a great all over powder brush. It’s velvety soft bristles that distribute your powder products effortlessly and because of it is domed and oversized it can be used on face and body.

SEPHORA COLLECTION PRO Powder Brush #50

When it comes to applying powder contour or bronzer, this is my go-to brush. Another favorite from the Sephora Collection Pro line, this brush has a slightly fanned out shape with soft densely packed bristles. The tapered shape allows for precise placement of powder contour or bronzer and the side of the brush diffuses product for softly sculpted look.

Shiseido Daiya Fude Face Brush Duo

This is such a elegantly designed brush. The gel tip applicator mimics fingertips and the diamond-shaped brush head buffs and diffuses product for a soft focus finish. Also, it’s small enough to fit in any makeup bag, making it travel-friendly.

Shiseido Maru Fude Multi Face Brush

Another travel-friendly brush from Shiseido is this brush. Because of it’s size, it’s perfect for applying blending blush, highlighter and contour powder. It also can be used to set smaller areas of the face including under eyes and around the nose area. The bristles are extremely soft and it’s unique shape allows the brush to glide smoothly over the desired area.

Sigma Soft Blend™ Brush Set

About a year ago this set made it to my monthly favorites products and it has remained a favorite since then. I love a soft focus look and this brush set delivers. The set contains six multi-use brushes that can be used on the eye and face. If soft glam was a brush set then this would be it.

Luxie Rose Gold Face Essential Brush Set

If you’re looking for a quality face brush set, this brush set from Luxie is worth it. The set contains six brushes for a flawless complexion and is my go to set when I’m doing more glam looks. The round top buffing brush has a dense, rounded head and leaves virtually no streak. The tapered face brush is perfect for applying powder blush or contour and my absolute favorite—and the flat blender brush is perfect for blending spot concealer and can also be used under the eyes. The powder and angled blush brush are really great quality and essential brushes to have in your collection.

Sonia G Lotus Set

Listen, Sonia G is basically the Anna Wintour of the makeup brush world. All of her brushes are made exclusively of natural goat or squirrel hair, hand-bundled with exquisitely detailed handled. I have this set because while I enjoy my synthetic fiber brushes, natural fude brushes like these are definitely superior. With three face brushes and three eye brushes you can effortlessly blend any formula whether it be your foundation, powder products or eyeshadow.
