When it comes to affordable skin care that is effective the market can be a little hit or miss. I recently was gifted most of the products from E.L.F.’s Holy Hydration! line and wanted to give it a try. I’ve tried their Supers line of skincare and I really liked it. As we’re moving closer to the cooler months when skin tends to need extra hydration I thought I would give this line a try and share my thoughts.
Holy Hydration Daily Cleanser
This was a no for me. After using this cleanser for about a week, I just couldn’t bring myself to like it. My skin felt dry and I didn’t care for the scent. It smelled medicinal. It also did not lather well. It’s now used as my makeup brush cleaner.

Holy Hydration Makeup Melting Cleansing Balm
This is a good cleansing balm. It almost instantly turns into an oil, breaks down your makeup and rinses cleanly. While this does remove eyeshadow, it’s not particularly good at removing mascara. I still had to go in with an eye makeup remover to make sure that all of my mascara is off before going in with my second cleanse.

Holy Hydration Sleeping Mask
I was pleasantly surprised with this product. I use it about three times a week and seal it with a face oil. It absorbs into the skin overnight and in the morning my skin felt almost as nourished as when I use my high-end sleeping masks.

Holy Hydration Hydro-Gel Moisturizer
This is a great lightweight moisturizer that is perfect for the warmer months or for those with oily skin. It hydrates without looking greasy and leaves the skin feeling plump. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this as my morning moisturizer and it layers well over top of my serums.

Holy Hydration Face Cream
While this is similar to the Hydro-Gel Moisturizer, this has a thicker texture. This moisturizer also contains niacin amide which helps with overall skin texture and brightens and protects your skin barrier. On nights when I am not using the sleeping mask, I used this over my treatment serum of choice and then top it with my favorite face oil. The next day, my skin feels hydrated and smooth to the touch. I would recommend this face cream for drier skin types. If you use this during the day, it’s important to also apply a sunscreen.

Holy Hydration Face Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 30
I’m saving this until the cooler months to use during the day. I like that there is an SPF version of the face cream. I personally use a standalone SPF over top of my moisturizer but this is a great option for those who like to have a product that moisturizes while also providing sun protection.

Final thoughts: The stars of this show are the moisturizers and sleeping mask. They performed as expected, layering nicely over top my treatment serums and essences and did leave my skin feeling hydrated. The cleanser was a definite no for me (I now use it as a makeup brush cleaner). There is also an eye cream that I did not try but the ingredients do not seem much different than that of the face cream or hydro-gel moisturizer so I do not think that that would be a necessity.
