The Weekly Roundup (Well Sort of)

Hey gals…I know, I know, I’ve been slacking. Truth is, there’s just been a lot going on, but trust that I haven’t forgotten about you. For this edition of the Weekly Roundup, (and I know it’s been over three weeks), there are a few things that I would love to share with you guys. The beauty section might be my favorite of this edition, and I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy. So, as per usual, let’s get right to it.

In Fashion – What I’m Eyeing for Spring

Yes, I am aware that we just had a “blizzard” (if that’s what you want to call it), but before you know it will be March and Spring will be here. After mentally accessing my wardrobe, I realized that the one thing that I was missing was a white leather jacket. A white leather jacket has always been kind of a hard thing for me to actually purchase because I live in fear of getting it dirty the first day that I wear it. But this year, I’m going to try to overcome this fear and go for it. Moments ago I was browsing J.Crew’s website (no surprise there) and came across their Collection Standing-Collar Leather Jacket. A little moto, a little vintage, a whole lot ME. The price tag is a little hefty, but hey, if you can do it, I say why not. First, let’s talk about the details. The one thing about this jacket is that instead of the usual silver or gold zippers, this jacket features rose gold detailing. The standing collar gives it a more refined look, allowing you to wear this anytime. For work this could easily be paired with a minimalist white shift dress, and rose gold open-toe leather booties. Accessorize it with a chunky statement necklace and stud earrings. The key to this look is keeping it simple allowing the jacket to be the star of your outfit.

Print In Beauty – All About Oils

On a recent visit to Sephora I picked up the mini of Glamglow’s Cleansing Mud. Honestly, I didn’t want to pick it up at first because when I read the reviews they weren’t all that good. But because of Sephora’s amazing return policy, I decided to give this product a try. The formula starts out as a mud and has exfoliating beads that gently buff the skin. After massaging it for a few minutes into my skin, the mud quickly changed to an oil. The oil was soothing and a tad greasier than I hoped, but because it’s extremely cold outside the added layer of moisture was actually a good thing. What I will say is that after completing my daily face routine, my skin was dewy all day and my makeup did not get shiny. Exactly what you want in a cleansing oil. The dual phase of exfoliator and cleanser takes two steps and combines them in one which saves on time seeing as I am almost always late to wherever I have to go. My recommendation: A great product to use during the cold weather to keep skin hydrated and exfoliated. s1676832-main-hero-300 Music – Where Ya Been?

That was my reaction when I listened to Lupe Fiasco’s newest album Tetsuo & Youth. It’s been a while since I’ve heard a soulful Hip-Hop album – (well I’ll take that back because J. Cole’s latest album 2014 Forest Hill Drive has been in heavy rotation over the past month). There are three tracks on this album that I have added to my morning playlist – Body of Work,  Blur My Hands  and Little Death LupeFiascoTetsuoYouthAlbumCover It’s What’s For Dinner

So…ever since I moved back to the Big Apple I am back on the NYC restaurant scene. Unlike my usual healthy eats, last night I decided it was time for some good ol’ artery clogging eats. I was craving some southern food and after searching Time Out New York I decided to head out to Hill Country Barbecue Market. Before going, I decided to check out the menu online. I couldn’t believe the amount of meat that was available. The portions were huge! I guess the everything is bigger in Texas even if it’s brought up north to New York. I had the Pitmaster. Now let me tell you, there’s enough food for at least two to three meals. Loaded with a 1/4 chicken, 1/4 pound of brisket, 1 massive rib and one HC hot link sausage, it was quite possible that my eyes were bigger than my stomach. On top of all that you had the choice of two sides. I opted for the Cool as a Cucumber salad (pickled cucumbers with red onions) and the Longhorn Cheddar Mac & Cheese. Again, these were Texas size portions. Of all the meats, the rib was my favorite. No need for barbecue sauce here. It was tender and seasoned to perfection. As for the sides the Cool as a Cucumber salad was pretty good, but it was the Longhorn Mac & Cheese that had my tastebuds watering. Located at 30 West 26th Street, it’s easy to find and right near public transportation. I will be having leftovers for lunch and possibly dinner today. Oh, and when I say the portions were huge, I really mean it. Screen Shot 2015-02-09 at 12.01.03 AM   Well, that’s it for this week’s edition of The Weekly Roundup. As always, remember to SEE. TOUCH. TASTE.
