January Makeup That Are Worth Trying Out

Image of new makeup launches for January 2023

Yes, the year has just started but makeup brands are coming through with the launches. I know the month is not over but here are five new makeup launches that are worth the hype.

Makeup by Mario Surreal Skin™ Liquid Foundation

Although I’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand, nothing really made me want to run out and try it. It may have been because when I think of Mario Dedivanovic, I think of complexion products (I can’t tell you how many times I watched his Make Up For Ever Reboot Foundation masterclass) and his previous launches with the exception of his sculpting stick were more on the ancillary side vs. base products. When I saw that the brand would be starting 2023 with the launch of their first foundation,  I marked my calendar and immediately went to my local Sephora to pick it up.

Finding my shade was relatively easy and the shade range is standard (30 in total) with a seemingly equal number of shades in each shade category. For reference I am shade 23O with O denoting olive undertone. The formula has medium coverage with a satin skin-like finish that wears well throughout the day. Even with my combo-oily skin I was able to wear it for the entire workday without it settling into fine lines.

Mented Cosmetics Full-Time Brightening Concealer

Melanated beauties rejoice. Mented Cosmetics has finally launched a concealer. It is creamy full-coverage lightweight formula that never clocks out. I’ve worn this with a skin tint and even though this formula is full coverage it can be sheered out and blends effortlessly.

Nars The Multiple In Orgasm Rush

While this I not a new product, this limited-edition shade is so beautiful on the skin. I love using this as a cream blush but can be used on the face, eyes and lips. I used this to create a monochromatic look. It’s the quickest way to look like you put a lot of effort without actually putting in a lot of effort.

e.l.f O-Face Satin Lipstick

Listen, e.l.f. is really bringing their A-game to the drugstore makeup category. These is one of the best pigmented, plush, satin-finish lipsticks I have tried from the drugstore a long time. I’ve been looking for the perfect blue-red and I think I found it in Own It. It glides on so smoothly and feels weightless on the lips. I dare say it performs as well as some of my high-end/luxury lipsticks and that’s really saying something.

It’s not even the end of the month, but with a strong start to the year I’m looking forward to what the rest of the year has to offer. What new makeup launches that are worth the hype have you been trying?
