Is it just me, or was April simultaneously the longest and shortest month thus far? One thing that’s for sure is that there were so many beauty releases that I struggled trying to find which releases I wanted to try. For the month of April, I tried a lot of things for the first time and just about everything was a hit. In the end, I wanted to come up with the a list of five things that I used the most and share them with you.
Hourglass Veil Setting Spray – I’ll be honest, I’m not a huge fan of Hourglass but what I am a big fan of are fine mist setting sprays. Ever since I tried the Fenty What it Dew Makeup Refreshing Spray, I only want to use makeup sprays where the mist is that fine. Fortunate for me, I was able to save 20% because it was available during the Sephora VIB event. I expedited shipping and as soon as it arrived, I used it. The mist is ultra-fine, it gives a radiant finish and I did find it to be blurring which was great since these days we spend our days on video conference calls. Though it’s definitely pricey for a setting spray, I have a strong feeling that this is something that I would repurchase.
Patrick Ta Major Brow – This is another product that I had been watching for about a month. I watched so many Instagram previews of how this product seemingly transformed brows and I couldn’t wait to try it for myself. What is important to note with this product is the technique that is used to achieve this feathery, yet sculpted brow effect. Unfortunately when my product arrived the actual wax cake separated from the pan, but the product was still able to be used. i have to say, I am impressed with the way that this product made my brows look. It really gave me a groomed brows appearance and we all know we haven’t gotten our brows tended to in months. Another win!
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm – If you have been following this blog or following me on Instagram, then you should know that the inclusion of this and basically any Summer Fridays product was a given. This technically launched in March (March 31st) but let’s be honest, by that time all the retailers were closed so the only way you could get this was online, which means that you got this in April. As expected, this product has everything that you could ever want in a lip balm – an amazing scent, hydration and if you’re anything like me it has the cutest packaging making it definitely Instagram worthy (because that’s where we are these days). After using it almost exclusively, once that Sephora VIB event came around I had to order backups.
Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner – I never knew I could love a toner like that. In fact, I didn’t really include toners as part a my daily skincare routine until very recently. This one from Glow Recipe really raised the bar for toners. In my opinion, it’s a toner that feels like an essence and performs like a lightweight serum. It gives your skin a radiant glow, gives the appearance of tightened pores and hydrates. I really saw a difference within a week of use. I primarily use this as part of my daytime skincare routine because of the glow it gives and the pore tightening effect makes my makeup apply better. I loved this toner so much that within a week, I purchased a backup since it was during the Sephora VIB event. Definitely worth the money
SEPHORA COLLECTION All Day Body Hydrator – Now, I don’t know what’s going on with everyone else, but since we’ve been in quarantine my skin has gotten significantly drier. It could be because my landlord has decided to crank up the heat throughout the day to about 90 degrees but my usual body cream has not been cutting it. Years ago the SEPHORA COLLECTION had a body cream that was amazing and then it was discontinued. Imagine my surprise when I was browsing Sephora and found that they now have repackaged and reformulated their body cream. I ordered one with the hopes that it would be as good as the previous one. It is – it’s so good. It last all day as the name suggests and my skin feels so much softer. Pretty much like the other products I was able to purchase during the Sephora VIB event, I ordered a backup.
If you haven’t picked up any of these products but feel that they can find a place in your beauty or skincare routine, you might want to try them out. Were any of my picks your favorites or even fails. Leave a comment below.
