Shorter month not withstanding, February had a lot of new beauty launches. From skincare to fragrance, there were some major hits and I compiled a list of the clear winners for me.
Summer Fridays Super Amino Cleanser
I mean it was only going to be a matter of time before Summer Fridays was going to launch a cleanser. If you are a follower of my blog you already know that Summer Fridays is one of my favorite skincare brands. The products they create are easy to incorporate into your regular skin routine, but over the past three years you can kind of see how they are slowly building their own regimen using solely their products. When this cleanser launched, I knew I wanted to try it. Over the past few months, I’ve been really into creamy foaming cleansers like the Clea de Peau creamy foaming cleanser and the Lancôme Crème Radiance Foaming Cleanser but now as we head into spring and summer, I tend to go with a lightweight cleanser and this really peaked my interest. What drew me to this is that it contains:
- Amino Acids to support skin elasticity
- Vitamin E & Sodium Lactate to nourish and attract moisture to the skin
Inkey List
I’ve been a fan of the Inkey List since they launched. My hero product is their Polyglutamic Acid that I have repurchased at least times. Each of their subsequent releases have been really good, but this last bunch really raised the bar when it comes to affordable skin care. From their most recent launch, there are three products that I caught my attention that could be incorporated into my existing skincare routine.
- Oat Cleansing Balm – This product is great because it essentially has three function
- Makeup remover
- Oil Cleanser
- Nourishing mask
I have tried all of these options and each time it has performed well. My favorite way to use this is as nourishing mask after chemical exfoliation—which brings me to my next product from this launch.
- Apple Cider Vinegar Peel – This chemical exfoliant contains one of my favorite ingredients – glycolic acid and is paired with ACV to help calm redness. Currently I am using another exfoliant that I want to finish, but you can be sure that I will be adding this to my skincare routine.
- Peptide Moisturizer – I cannot wait to try this moisturizer. Although marketed for dry skin, I think that this would work well as a night cream for my combination skin. This rich cream claims to target fine lines and fine lines, as well as supporting collagen production over time. I’m curious how this compare to my other rich night cream. Stay tuned for that review.
Pat McGrath Labs Concealer System
There’s no way I could write this post without mentioning this MAJOR release from Mother—Pat McGrath. The Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Concealer System. I could not wait to get my hands on this. I ordered the system which was a great value. The concealer is a soft matte formula and a little goes a long way. The concealer brush that came with the system was smaller than I thought, however it was the perfect size to get into small areas. For me, the real star of this launch is the blurring under-eye powder. This formula does exactly what it says. It set my under eyes so beautifully that it looked airbrushed. This concealer and powder duo is what we hope to achieve when we apply concealer and a setting powder. I highly recommend the powder and the concealer, the brush however is not necessary.
Make Up For Ever Reboot Foundation
I found a new favorite foundation. This formula is amazing. It actually is like if my current two foundations had a baby. It has a similar coverage and finish as the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish: Sublime Skin Foundation with almost the same staying power as Shiseido Synchro Skin Self-Refreshing Foundation SPF 30. While it doesn’t contain SPF it does contain skin loving ingredients to that claim to give your skin a natural glow as well as protect the skin’s protective barrier.
Maison Margiela Replica Springtime in a Park
In a few days it will officially be spring and while social distancing and self-quarantine are in effect, this scent will transport you to back in time. For me it was picnics in Central Park on the Great Lawn. This newest addition to Maison Margiela’s Replica franchise is just in time for the spring season and a great addition to anyone who enjoys light fruity floral scents. What I also like about this fragrance is that it layers so well with other fragrances in the collection—my favorite pairing of the moment is topping this scent with Under the Lemon Trees for a citrus twist.
So there it is. My top picks of beauty launches for the month of February. Leave a comment if you’ve tried purchased any of these products or share your favorite launches from February.
