If you have combo-oily to oily skin and anything like me, wearing a full face in the summer can sometimes be a struggle. After trying a several products, this summer was able to find a few products that have been reaching for daily and that’s because they have really held up even in 90+ degrees NYC heat.
Born This Way Multi-Use Complexion Powder
I just started using this powder when it was 90 degrees in NYC and I refused to use a liquid foundation but wanted a full coverage look. To be honest, this powder is more of a medium coverage. I’m totally fine with that and for extra coverage I use a concealer under my foundation. The powder blurred my pores and gave me an almost airbrushed finish.
Sephora Collection PRO Face Palette
If there is one product you end up purchasing from this post, it really needs to be this. The Sephora PRO Face Palette did not come to play. There are three palettes (Light, Medium & Deep) and each palette is customized with the best highlighter, blush, bronzer and contour size depending on your skin tone. Some of shades are straight dupes for some of your favorite blushes (Red Carpet is a dupe for NARS Exhibit A), highlighter (LA is a straight dupe for Becca Cosmetics Pressed Shimmering Skin Protector in Topaz) and bronzer (Jet Setter is a happy medium between Fenty Beauty’s Coco Naughty and Mocha Mami). The formulas are amazing, the color payoff is intense so go in with a light hand and build up. But
Pat McGrath Labs MTHSHP Bronze Ambition Eye Palette
Of all of the eyeshadow formulas on the market this is my favorite—trust me I’ve tried a lot of formulas. This palette is my favorite of all the MTHRSHP palettes that have been released. Although there’s only one true transition shade, depending on whether these shadows are used wet or dry you can create several looks with these six shadows. I was able to snag all three palettes from my local Sephora at 50% off (unfortunately they are sold out online). You can also purchase it on Pat McGraths website and there’s a $40 savings if you buy all three MTHRSHP palettes.
You could use any liquid eyeliner, but this one really has become my favorite. It doesn’t skip, is intensely black and has a satin finish that lasts all day without cracking. It also creates the perfect wing even if you have hooded eyes.
L’Oreal Lash Paradise Primer and Mascara
This is probably the best drugstore lash primer & mascara duo. We all know that Lash Paradise mascara has been compared to Too Face’s Better Than Sex Mascara as a drugstore dupe. Personally, I prefer this mascara over Better Than Sex but the game changer is the primer. It coats every lash and gives amazing volume to my barely there lashes. The mascara is buildable without looking clumpy, leaving you with lush lashes.
Maybelline Super Stay Ink Crayon
I use this more as a lip liner than as a lip color. I like that it hugs the lip line and is rather creamy considering that most of the lip colors from the Super Stay Ink line tend to be matte. When I paired Live on The Edge with the Fenty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow, I feel like I just discovered the best summer lip combo. As a bonus, there’s a sharpener in the cap.
You just need it, so go get it.
If you’re wearing a powder foundation this summer, this is a great setting spray. It has fine mist that evenly sets your powder foundation, leaving you with a natural dewy finish that works for both dry and combo skin types. On top of that it is packed with rose, argan, and avocado oils.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer
I like this as both a complexion and brightening concealer. It gives a blurred finish especially under the eye and it will hold up for hours without creasing. I also recommend using this as a face concealer as it has amazing coverage and your powder foundation won’t skip because it dries down to a skin finish and with their extensive shade range at a reasonable price.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer
As far as brightening concealers go, this is my favorite concealer at the moment. I wasn’t sure I would like the sponge tip applicator but it turns out that it actually deposits the product evenly and the formula is extremely easy to blend and covers dark circles completely.
