Four Primers You Want to Add to Your Foundation Routine

As the weather warms up, you might notice that the primers you’ve been using just aren’t holding up the way that they used to. I have combo/oily skin so whether it’s makeup or skincare I find that I have to switch up depending on the season and my skincare needs.  I’ve rounded up four primers that will give you that sun kissed glow while helping your makeup last throughout the day all summer long.

Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer

Of all of the products that Milk Makeup has launched, this is my favorite. I finally found that this product will play a major role in my makeup routine. As the name suggests, this is a gripping primer. It’s perfect for warmer weather when your makeup tends to clock out before you’re done for the night. It’s also super hydrating and can be worn with both your radiant and matte foundation formulas for prolonged foundation wear. The good thing about this is that you can wear it alone for a hydrated, dewy look that doesn’t feel greasy.

Ciate Watermelon Glow

This primer just hit Sephora a couple of weeks ago. I was originally drawn to it because like the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer this contains hyaluronic acid for hydration but also includes watermelon extract (for brightening and exfoliating) and vitamin E for protection from free radicals. I personally like the fact that it’s kind of a skincare product and can be worn alone for a radiant finish to your bare skin.

Kaja Blur Drop Primer

So here’s the thing—I love a radiant foundation but used to stay away from radiant/dewy foundations during the warmer months because they would just break down and my pores would look large in the span of two hours due to my combo oily skin. When paired with a matte foundation like Dior Backstage Face & Body foundation, the result is smooth base that remains natural and virtually crease-free all day

NYX Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Radiant Perfecting Primer

The newest addition to my summer primer collection is the NYX Bare With Me Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Radiant Perfecting Primer. When I first applied to my skin, it reminded me of a more subtle version of Becca’s Backlight Priming Filter Face Primer as far as finish but with the cooling effect of Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer. The texture of this primer is versatile to be worn under foundation for a glow from within finish, mixed with a tinted moisturizer like the NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil.
