Bare With Me: New Collection From NYX

When it comes to drugstore brands like NYX, I’m always intrigued when they launch new innovative products. This three-piece collection features a multi-tasking facial spray, a skin veil and a priming jelly.

Bare With Me Prime. Set. Refresh. Multitasking Spray  – $10

This product can be used as a priming spray, a setting spray and as a makeup refresher. If you’re putting on makeup in the middle of the day after you’ve probably already been out, I find that this is a good spray to add a burst of hydration to the skin before going in with foundation. It’s cooling and dispenses like a fine mist that is quickly absorbed into the skin. I didn’t find that it left my combo-oily skin feeling sticky but it did give me a refreshed appearance. Whether or not you decide to go in with a primer before applying your regular foundation or not is totally up to you. All in all, this is a great priming spray and reminds me of the Smashbox Photofinish Primer Water but at a fraction of the price.  The product dispenses a fine mist and has a cooling effect that will be necessary during the warmer months. It’s formulated with cucumber extract and glycerin to calm and hydrate the skin and salicylic acid which controls excess sebum—great for those who fall on the oily spectrum of skin types.

Bare With Me Hydrating Jelly Primer – $17

Of the three products, this is the one that intrigued me the most. Recently, I’ve been loving Milk Makeup’s Hydrogrip Primer. It’s an amazing primer that hydrates and soothe the skin. I love that it can be worn alone for a natural glow. It can also be worn under your favorite foundation and it really does improve the wear time of your foundation. The Bare With Me Hydrating Jelly Primer is a great alternative if you get sticker shock when you see the $30 price tag of the Milk Makeup Hydrogrip Primer. Aside from that, this primer comes in a jar instead of a tube or pump. Not exactly what I was expecting but applying this primer is a lot of fun. This water-based gripping primer bounces right back into place no matter how much you scoop out (you don’t need to use that much). What I like about it is that it absorbs quickly into the skin and can be worn alone for a fresh hydrated look and also smooths the skin revealing a smooth canvas for foundation application. As far as the price tag goes, I was little surprised at the $17 price tag. This product is one that I will find myself reaching for on days when I am wearing little or no makeup.

Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil

In my honest opinion, this product is for the girl who wants a little more coverage than Glossier’s Skin Tint. It has a very light texture, and does even out your complexion. If you are looking for coverage—this is NOT for you. I actually like that it’s light enough to apply  like a tinted moisturizer and leave a radiant finish. If you have oilier skin, you may still want to lightly dust some translucent powder and use the Bare With Me Prime. Set. Refresh. Multitasking Spray to set this formula because while it claims to have and 8-hour wear but on combo-oily to oily skin types this is going to last a max of 5 hours before you will see creasing/separation. I’ve seen worse.

Overall, I think this is a good collection, but in my opinion this works best for those with normal or combo skin. I highly recommend the multi-tasking spray which is at a great price point and the jelly primer to give your skin a natural glow and also as a base for your foundation.
