#AboutFace: Origins GinZing

It’s not even Thursday, but remember way back when there was an About Face series on See. Touch. Taste.? Back then it wasn’t #AboutFace but I figured I bring it back and what better way to do that than with another oldie but goodie line from Origins…GinZing™. The key ingredient in this line is coffee so it’s pretty much like a shot of espresso for your face. If you’ve been reading the posts for a while you already know that I already incorporate two of the products from the GinZing™ in my daily skincare routine.   A couple of weeks ago I received an Influenster Vox Box containing three products from the line:

For two weeks, I used these three products in conjunction with another one of my favorites from the line—Treatment Lotion Mist as part of my daytime skincare routine and added the Peel-Off Mask to Refine and Refresh as a bi-weekly treatment.

Of the three products I received for review, the Refreshing Eye Cream is my favorite. Up until now, I had always used this eye cream as my nighttime eye treatment. Using it as part of my daytime skin routine was kind of a game changer especially on days where I am wearing makeup. Because the cream has a slight pink tint to it, it brightens the under eye area and made me look more awake and I looked like I had a full night of sleep, even on days when I probably had no more than 6 hours.

My second favorite was the Refreshing Scrub Cleanser. I pretty much love any product that has a dual purpose and I love to exfoliate. However, we all know that if you over-exfoliate or use an exfoliator that is to harsh on the skin it can do more damage than good. With this cleanser, the exfoliating beads made with jojoba and carnauba wax gently buff away dead skin leaving skin smoother. While other reviewers have complained about the smell, I actually really like the scent and it definitely wakes me up in the morning kind of giving me a jumpstart so that I can spring into action and maybe make it to work on time. As far as the Energy Boosting Moisturizer goes, I did like it and I think it’s a great moisturizer especially during the warmer months. It is very light, but leaves the skin feeling hydrated for the entire day. Because it’s suitable for all skin types, it leaves you with a healthy glow that doesn’t look greasy even if you have oilier skin. I do wish it contained SPF.

Then there were two products that I added to my routine from the line—Peel Off Mask to Refine and Refresh and Treatment Lotion Mist. I used these two products twice a week. The Peel-Off Mask is probably my least favorite from the line. First off the application was a little hard. The mask is very thick and unlike other peel off masks I’ve used, spreadability and removal was kind of an issue. It dries very quickly, which is good since this is a morning mask and again, if you’re like me it’s like a race against the clock to be on time, however there was more tugging than I would have liked when it came time to removal. It did reveal brighter skin, it was just that my skin felt unusually tight so good thing I had the Treatment Lotion mist to add hydration before using the moisturizer. In my opinion, the Treatment Lotion Mist is a necessity if you are going to use this mask. My skin felt instantly refreshed and after a few spritzes and pressing into my skin making it ready for me to continue with the rest of my routine.

Final verdict—The Origins GinZing line is a line that does promote smoother more radiant skin. What makes it unique is that almost all of the products in the line can be used on all skin types.  Personally I think that there could be some improvements made to the Peel-Off Mask to aid with the application process, but it did produce results. The Scrub Cleanser and the Eye Cream are the big wins in this line with the Treatment Lotion Mist make for a great daytime skin regimen. Click on any of the links in this post to shop.
