Summer Skincare: Glow, Baby Glow!

Gals, my birthday is right around the corner so naturally, it’s time for me to modify my current skincare routine. Summer will be here before you know it and everyone wants to have that healthy summer glow. It took me a while and after mixing some oldies with some newbies I think I have found the perfect daytime and nighttime regimens. Here are the products I’m using this entire season (and beyond).

Lets start with the oldies but definite goodies:

Origins Plantscription™ Anti-Aging Cleanser

I chose this cleanser primarily for two reasons:

  • It’s a great creamy cleanser that delivers potent skincare and gives my skin a deep clean.
  • I had way to many cleanser that I started to use and then stopped using once something new came along. So to avoid being a hoarder I decided to use this cleanser until it is completely finished.

I prefer to use this as my nighttime cleanser since it’s really good at dissolving my makeup.

Clinique Take The Day Off Micellar Water Cleansing Towelletes

These are basically my lifesavers. I have tons of cleansing wipes but these really get the job done. I use them as part of my double cleanse, days when I’m too tired to do a full nighttime skincare routine, and sometimes right after working out. They leave my skin feeling refreshed and clean and I can apply a night cream right after without feeling like a film has been left on my face. Just so you know I always use two wipes.

Origins Ginzing™ Refreshing Eye Cream

Although the directions will say that this is a daytime eye cream, I used this as my nighttime eye treatment. For me,  this particular eye cream needs a minute to actually absorb into the skin. It’s also kind of heavy so it kind of leaves the skin around my eyes a little – let’s just say glossy but by the morning it has absorbed. I love it because it’s really good at banishing dark circles deputes so that in the morning I look awake because I rarely am.

Tatcha Polished Gentle Rice Enzyme Powder

This is so good. The fact that it’s like three products in one (cleanser, toner and exfoliator) really helps especially in the morning because as I mentioned, I am ALWAYS RUNNING LATE. I find that my skin tone has evened out and the surface is smoother which lately has been a huge plus for me seeing as I usually go makeup free because I am ALWAYS RUNNING LATE and the lighting in my bathroom is horrendous— but so is the lighting in the bathroom at work. I can’t win. LOL.

Now for the newbies.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid Serum + B5 and Caffeine Solution

A little over a month ago I wrote a post about a relatively new brand from Deciem called The Ordinary. I am a huge fan of this brand for two reasons. First the products work. Secondly, the price point is phenomenal with every product under $10. Let me say that again. The price is under $10. The two products that I have included as part of my summer skincare routine are the Hyaluronic Acid Serum and the Caffeine Solution. The Hyaluronic Acid serum is a must have regardless of the season as it is important to keep your skin hydrated. This serum also has Vitamin B5 proven to aid in keeping the skin hydrated. I use this as part of my daytime and nighttime regimen and at $7, who wouldn’t considering the benefits. Next, is the Caffeine Solution. I use this as my daytime eye treatment. What I love about this serum is that it absorbs quickly and instantly de-puffs which is great when you haven’t had enough sleep and don’t want anyone to know. It also helps with dark circles. Tatcha Pore Perfecting Water Gel Moisturizer

This moisturizer is like a godsend for my pores and keeps me hydrated all day. On top of that it’s formulated with a hint of 23 karat that gives a radiant glow. I have to admit I was a little nervous about using it because I was afraid that I would look like I dusted shimmer all over my skin or that my already oily skin would look shiny but it didn’t.

Glossier Invisible Shield SPF 35 Face Sunscreen

As far as daytime skincare goes, and no matter what the season is we all need to wear sunscreen. I got really excited when Glossier announced that they were launching a sunscreen that would be completely invisible even on deep skin tones like mine. Naturally, I ran out to get it. I’m impressed, like really impressed. No white cast at all. If you’re like me and don’t care about your face glowing then this is the sunscreen for you. I like it because it protects with SPF 35 and since I am ALWAYS LATE, this sunscreen is perfect for someone like me who is always in a hurry. It’s right on par with most prestige daily SPF’s of it’s size, selling at $34 for 1 oz. There is however a down side. It is not waterproof, so if you are going for a run, swimming or just working out outdoors then this is not the SPF formula you want to use. Other than that it is everything that I hoped it would be.

LXMI Crème du Nil Pore Refining Moisture Veil

This is literally like mother’s milk for your skin. Although lightweight in comparison to most night creams it is extremely hydrating. With continued use it does even skin tone and texture and visibly reduces the appearance of pores which as you know are two of my biggest skin concerns. On top of that it gives my skin some serious bounce back.

I have to say I’m rather proud of myself keeping my daytime and nighttime skin regimen to a total of 10 products. You see sometimes as a blogger/beauty junkie I can find myself overwhelmed with product and it can be quite a challenge sticking to a routine for months. Trust me, this was not easy feat. I spent countless hours sifting through beauty products, listing their benefits and how each product could address my skin concerns (which have been drastically reduced) before coming up with this one. There’s also a facial oil that I’ve been using but I’m saving that for another post because it is some kind of special.

What skin products new/old are you using this season? Leave a comment because I love hearing from you.

Until next time, always remember to SEE. TOUCH. TASTE.
