You know the nighttime is the right time to get that skin right. Last week I shared my daytime skin regimen and as promised, this week I’m sharing my winter nighttime skincare routine. With the holidays right around the corner, you’ll be visiting family, friends and attending those swanky office holiday parties. Your nighttime regimen is just as important as your daytime regimen, so you need to “get right” at night as well.
The Products

I first start with the Algenist Genius Ultimate Anti-Aging Melting Cleanser. I first reviewed this during the summer and to be perfectly honest – I liked it, but I didn’t LOVE it. Still, it was worth seeing for two reasons:
- It’s a fantastic makeup remover It works quickly – literally melting the makeup off and with a cleansing wipe on an overwhelming night it’s pretty much will get you cleansed and you can hit the sack. I have a problem doing that, but I’ve spoken to others who have tried this product and they primarily use it for quick cleanse on long nights. I probably will always love my Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm but I prefer this during the winter months.
- Algenist is known for their breakthrough anti-aging formulas and this one is right on par. After doing a little research on the product, I discovered some pretty amazing things about it that aided me in including this cleanser as part of my winter nighttime skincare routine. It contains Alguronic acid – a mix of algae extracts that claims to have anti-aging benefits for the skin.
Next, I follow up with my beloved Mario Badescu Glycolic Acid Toner. Normally, I only use this toner 2-3 times a week during the winter months because it can sometimes be a little drying. However since I switched the the Algenist cleanser, this is no longer the case and I find that I can use this on a daily basis. Let’s not forget – resurfacing is always necessary in order to achieve toned, smooth skin. In addition to that, glycolic acid is known to aid with hyper pigmentation, and by using it at night you do not have to layer with an SPF product.
Three times a week and after toning, I use another Mario Badescu favorite of mine. – Mario Badescu Glycolic Gel as a spot treatment for my pesky blemishes. Because this is a gel formula you should wait 1-2 minutes for it to be absorbed completely into the skin before moving on to the next and very important step – moisturizing.
At the recent Face Flawless Skin event I won a prize which included five products from First Aid Beauty. I have just started using the Facial Radiance Pads from the line during the day and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Hydrafirm Sleeping Cream is a rich moisturizer that offers super hydration – a necessity during the winter months regardless of your skin type (this is just one of the juicy tidbits I learned during the event.) Typically during the winter months I tend to go for a heavier overnight moisturizer anyway and this one leaves your skin feeling so soft.
For most of this post I’ve been concentrating on my face and sometimes it’s easy to forget about your neck and décolleté, but that is an area one should pay close attention in order to achieve a more youthful appearance. A few months ago, while visiting the bareMinerals Soho Shade Shop, I was introduced to the bareMinerals Extra Firming Neck Cream with ActiveSoil™ Complex. This special complex has been proven to reveal smoother skin, aid in cell turnover and improves your skin’s ability to absorb and retain moisture making fine lines less visible.
For my eyes I have found that the bareMinerals Mineralixirs™ Eye Nourishing Balm to be super effective as my night time eye treatment. Although it is a solid, once warmed between your fingers it turns into an oil that easily spreads (so a little goes a long way). Because this does have an oilier texture, it is perfect as an overnight treatment because it needs time to deposit essential skin enhancing minerals that work while you are catching up on your much needed beauty sleep.
The final step in my skincare routine is the Peter Thomas Roth Camu Camu Power C x 30 Vitamin C Brightening Sleeping Mask. I found about this product while reading an article on Refinery29 about an overnight mask that is the closest thing that you will get to an overnight miracle. The active ingredient in this sleeping mask is Vitamin C – known for its brightening properties. In addition to that, this mask claims to have insane moisturizing properties. I have only used this mask once, so I can’t give my stamp of approval as of yet (no matter what they hype) but keep checking back because you know if I love it I’m definitely going to write about this again.
So there you have it. Have you tried any of these products? Love them or hate them? Do you have a nighttime skincare routine you’d like to share? I’m always curious, so sound off in the comment section below. Remember, #staybeautiful #stayflawless #faceflawlessskin #FFSHoliday
