Yes, NYFW is upon us. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve attended a fashion show and I didn’t think that I would be participating in any of the events this season. I was soooo wrong. On the first day of NYFW, while browsing Instagram, I came across post that made me stop. It was from Digital Sorority‘s Kela Walker of Kela’s Kloset. She was giving away tickets to the Care For the Homeless Empowered Beauty Fashion Show. The models were residents of Susan’s Place. Susan’s Place is a transitional residence for women by providing them with medical and mental health assistance and ultimately finding them stable, permanent housing. The fashion show, which is now in its third year gives these women a real boost in confidence and empowerment.
Seeing these beautiful women (inside and out) come out and really be a part of one of the most important events in New York, was truly inspiring. They walked with such confidence, and served as a reminder to everyone that no matter what your economic, mental or physical circumstance, everything can change and it can change for the better. Everyone from the models, to the performers, to the influencers and the sponsors really made this a special event. I could go on and on about this event. Even if I don’t get to attend another NYFW event this season, I am certainly honored that I was able to attend this one. To learn more about Susan’s Place and Care For the Homeless click here.
