About Face: bareMinerals Brush Bar

Yes, this is another bareMinerals review. No, I am not their brand ambassador (yet). Yes, I spend some of my spare time at the bareMinerals Shade Shop because, you know, a girl likes makeup. About a month and a half go while on a shopping trip at the Shade Shop, one of the MUAs introduced me to the new bareMinerals Bare Brush Bar. I already owned two brushes that I got as part of a swag bag at some blogger event some time ago and I really liked them. I still use them, especially the Light Stroke brush (now called the Max Coverage Concealer Brush). It was perfect for applying any of my concealers especially around the eye area and didn’t leave any streaks or settle into my fine lines. I also had the Precision Face Brush which was perfect for when I started contouring because of the tapered head.

The first brush that was shown to me was the Supreme Finisher Brush. Most times I will use a kabuki brush with my setting powder. It works great and it’s great for buffing, but sometimes you if you apply to much pressure you’ll end up with that gray cast over your face. This brush was different. First of all, the bristles are so soft and longer than your usual kabuki brush. It also has a longer handle so that you’re able to use a lighter hand to lightly dust your bronzers/highlighters or your finishing powders and achieve a very natural finish. The next brush is easily my favorite. It’s called the Blurring Buffer Brush. It’s the best. I use this after using my concealer brush. This also has a long handle. The short, super dense bristles buff concealers right into the skin and gives you an almost airbrush effect. The third brush is the Dual Finish Blush & Contour Brush. What makes this brush unique is that it has two different fibers – one side has natural fibers (use this with your powder blushes) and the other side has synthetic fibers (use this side for your contour). Dual purpose brush = more space in your already too cluttered makeup bag. Lastly, I purchased the Smoothing Face Brush. I think I purchased this brush mostly because it was crafted to be used with Complexion Rescue. But as with most of bareMinerals products, this brush can be used with any or your liquid/BB/CC cream formulas and works just great. Today, I used it with my Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation.

These brushes are everyday essentials. With these four brushes and a concealer brush, your look can be set in just about 15 minutes. Here is the result after six hours and only blotting once. We need to talk about the huge zit on my chin though. Yes, another blog post…
