Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday! Can you believe that we’re only weeks away from Thanksgiving! I’ve already started putting together my Thanksgiving menu, so be on the lookout guys!

In Fashion

This week it’s all about the accessories. Baublebar recently released the second installment of the Emma Roberts Guest Bartender collection and it’s a great addition to the first collection that was put out two months ago. There was a total of nine additional pieces and from the new additions here are my personal favorites.

In Beauty

This week I’m featuring Caudalie’s Vinosource S.O.S. Morning Eye Rescue. I first tried this product as part of my Sephora V.I.B gift. I wanted something that would depot my eyes in the morning but didn’t use harsh ingredients. As we all know, the skin around the eye area is very thin, so irritation can easily happen. This particular eye cream is great if you your main concern is de-puffing and brightening. Formulated with natural grape seed extract (clearly grape seed is beneficial for every part of your body – see my post from two weeks ago about the benefits of grape seed) and calming white tea extract, it’s gentle yet effective.

In Music

Fink. Yeah know the name. The first time I heard him was almost a decade ago. Think of him as a new age blues artist. He’s worked with the likes of Jon Legend and his music has been featured on numerous TV shows and most recently on the 12 Years a Slave soundtrack. Apparently, he dropped another album this past summer – Hard Believer (I missed that release). So a few days ago I had a chance to listen to the album – it’s a little sad if you ask me – but overall it was a good album. I will say that the 2006 release Biscuits for Breakfast is still my favorite.  Too bad he doesn’t perform in the States, otherwise I would be right there. Of the five studio albums that he released, my favorites are Biscuits for Breakfast, Distance and Time, and the newest release – Hard Believer. Here are my favorite tracks from the albums. Click on the titles to listen.

And just because I love this band so much, I’m going to leave you with another of my personal favorites from his Sort of Revolution album – Move on Me

What to Watch

Yes, I was binge watching again this week, thanks to Amazon Prime. This week, I watched the first and second seasons of the PBS series Mr. Selfridge. Yes, that Mr. Selfridge – founder of the UK’s most posh place to shop, Selfridge’s. This is the man who coined some of retail’s enduring phrases including “The customer is always right” and “People will sit up and take notice of you if you will sit up and take notice of what makes them sit up and take notice.” What I found surprising about Mr. Selfridge is that he actually wasn’t from the UK. He was an American who’s vision was to create the ultimate shopping experience. At the time (1909) his vision wasn’t well received by the Brit’s but he soon won them over and became the most fashionable place to shop. Selfridge’s still remains in its original location and has retained the same prestige as it did over a century ago. If you are an Amazon Prime member then the first season is available for free. The third season is currently in production. Oh, Jeremy Piven plays Harry Selfridge with the same “Let’s hug it out, bitch” attitude that he’s so known for.

Good Eats

This week, my sister and I prepared Catalonian Chickpea with Chirozo and Spinach Stew found on Food & Wine (of course). Click here for the recipe. Simple ingredients and very healthy, this dish was quick to make. All we had to do was throw in the ingredients and have it simmer. You can eat it alone or you can serve it with rice and it’s an excellent meal.

Well that’s all for this week. Remember to always SEE. TOUCH. TASTE
