It’s Friday! Yes, finally the start to the weekend. It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend. I can hardly wait. Well then, lets jump right into it.
In six days, the drama that we’ve been waiting for will make it’s return. Yes, I am talking about none other than Scandal. Don’t act like you don’t watch it. You watch it, and you love it, no matter how wrong the situations might be, you just want more. But I’m not talking about the show this week, I’m talking about the fashion. The equally anticipated Scandal collection from The Limited will be launching two days before the season premiere, and it is everything that you thought it would be. Like seriously, everyone can dress like Olivia Pope. Here are some of my favorite looks from the collection:
Those leather gloves. If you watch the show, you remember the scene where she thinks that Fitz has come out of his coma and she’s wearing that wrap coat and those leather opera gloves. How could we ever forget?
The one thing that Olivia Pope is know of is her impeccable taste in outerwear. When she dawned that cape and sassed her way into see Cyrus, we loved that. Her fitted blazers are one of my favorite pieces that she wears on the show.
I like to call the above outfits her OPA outfits. These are the looks that you will see when she’s setting up that wall to get all the facts together to help out her clients. She’s all business, all the time.
And then, there are the White House looks. The outfits when she’s going in to a meeting with Cyrus, or meeting him in the park outside of the White House. Sophisticated, classy, and smart.
Can’t wait for the new collection? Neither can I. Don’t forget it will be available on September 23rd, so ladies mark your calendars, or come back to this post and click here.
If you’ve been following my See Touch Taste Facebook page, I promised that today would be a double dose of fashion. This week I want to talk about H&M. Yes – I know, it’s a little out of character for me as I tend to not really go for “fast-fashion”. However, this week, I happened to pop in there and I was actually surprised with a few of the pieces they were offering. Okay, actually I fell in love with this one particular top. I have a thing for asymmetric cuts. They are extremely flattering and they also add a little edge to your outfit. This particular top is exactly that. It is form-fitted, yet office appropriate. It’s versatile and could be worn to the office or on a night out. I love it and yes, I think I have to have it. While I know how some people feel about a peplum top, this kicks peplum up a notch. At $50 and made of natural fibers, it’s a win-win.
As far as beauty goes, today I had the pleasure of purchasing yet another fragrance – Calvin Klein’s Reveal. Years ago I used to work for a company that produced Calvin Klein’s fragrance. Truth be told, I was never a big fan of any of their fragrances. In fact, I think it’s safe to say that outside of Eternity, all of their fragrances smelled the same. So when I had the opportunity to smell this one, I wasn’t exactly expecting to be wowed – but I was. When it comes to fragrance there are several factors that make me fall for it – the scent and then the presentation. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve noticed that my taste in scents have changed. Years ago, I would favor fruity/floral scents and now I seem to lean towards woodsy/oriental scents. There’s just something a bit more sophisticated about the latter. This scent is unlike any other scent I own. Here are the notes: Raw Salt Signature, Pink Pepper, Black Pepper, White Pepper, Oris, Ambergris, Solar Accord, Sandalwood, Musk, Cashmeran. Definitely, not your run of the mill combination, but together they work so well together. What’s also great about it is that the scent lasts a long time – in my book this also makes this a cost-effective beauty purchase. Now let’s talk about the bottle. It is like a jewel being uncovered – hence the name, Reveal. If you’re not ready to splurge on the full size, you could always start with the rollerball (plus, you could easily drop it into your purse.
Last Friday, after seeing Boroko perform live, a friend and I stopped by Marshall Stack. Located at 66 Rivington Street in NYC it might become one of my favorite places to grab a late night meal. After ordering a beer, I decided that I would order the BLT with avocado. Served on flatbread with applewood bacon, aioli, tomatoes, and sliced avocado, this is not your mother’s BLT. It was delicious. I’m also all about presentation, and while I didn’t eat them, the kettle cooked potato chips were a nice touch. Definitely something I’m going to make at home on a lazy Sunday.
And now, for the grand finale. I love this part of the #weeklyroundup. It’s the music, the part that speaks to my soul. This week – it’s all about U2. First let me begin by saying THANK YOU, APPLE! THANK YOU U2! This is the album that I have been waiting for. I’m a huge U2 fan, not just the band, but the individual band members. Their humanitarian works inspire me and if I could only be that cool at their age, give back even one-hundreth of what they give back, it makes life so worthwhile. When their new magically appeared on my phone, I couldn’t wait to download it. I have been waiting for them to drop an album ever since they released Ordinary Love for the Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom movie. This album is amazing. From the first to the last track, it was classic U2. The lyrics had me dancing and singing into my broom (so you know it was a GOOD album). Here are my favorite tracks from the album:
- The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)
- Every Breaking Wave
- Song for Someone
- Volcano
- Sleep Like a Baby
- Troubles
- This is Where You Can Reach Me Now
Here’s the best part. So long as you are an iTunes subscriber from now through October 13, this album is available for download to your iPhone/iPod for FREE! I know, sounds to good to be true. Download your copy now before time runs out!
Well people, that’s this week’s #weeklyroundup! Until next week.
