The Weekly Roundup

Happy Friday! Time for the Weekly Roundup!

It’s Fashion Week! I remember when I used to get all excited and take off from my day job to stand on line for hours to see if I could get to see one or two of the shows. Now I’m invited to several shows every season and if I make it to one, I’m lucky.  I now find that it is best to watch the shows on my computer or tablet. I can be relaxed, with a cup of coffee (or wine) and enjoy each look as if I was sitting in the first row.  At the end of the work day yesterday, I decided to watch at least one of the shows before heading out for the day.  The designer: Marissa Webb, newly appointed creative director for Banana Republic ( you have to see the new Fall 14 collection) and former VP of womenswear at J.Crew. So it comes with no surprise that her own eponymous line would also be a standout.  Now this is not Marissa Webb’s first collection, however, it is in my opinion, her best. The Spring 15 collection is both feminine and minimalist. It featured a color palette that was both conservative and bold. The standout color – army green. Yes, you read right – army green for spring. It worked – it really worked. Lots of silk was on display and there was something for just about everybody. From long blazers, soft trench coats and jackets, to the interesting pairing of feminine prints with army green jackets to the vibrant red silk sleeveless dress, it was nothing short of perfection. Ah, the food section of the Weekly Roundup. I have to say, this is pretty much my favorite part of this segment.  I love to cook, like I really, really love it.  Last week, I found this recipe on Epicurious for a Rib Eye Steak with Red Wine Sauce.  It was 9:30 p.m. by the time I got home, but I was determined to make this. It was fantastic. The red wine and dijon mustard gave it just the right amount of kick. It looked beautiful. It was divine. And the best part – it was simple to make.  I paired it with a simple spinach salad.

In music, recently in heavy rotation on my playlist is Miguel’s Simple Things. After a long day at the office, after all the work functions, the hanging out – when I get home, I keep things really simple – kick off the heels, get rid of the makeup (that I hardly wear anymore thanks to Lancome’s DreamTone, make dinner, grab a beer, read or watch a little something before going to bed, although lately that hasn’t been the case.  This track mixes Miguel’s R&B crooning with these guitar riffs that I can feel in the base of my spine. Yeah, I’m slow dancing in my living room and I’m not ashamed.

Then my girl Banks dropped this track this week. I can’t wait until her album drops next week.

This was a short week, so this is a short post. I know it’s kind of late in the day, but hey, a girl had things to do.

Until next week!
